Beds: Comfortable. Rooms are spacious, unfussy and functional. Terracotta-tiled floors, ensuite bathrooms and french doors straight out into the garden. This is an ACA property (like the UK’s RAC), but a particularly lovely one; an attractive neo-colonial building with an interior courtyard garden. They’re not all like this.
Breakfast: On the terrace outside overlooking the spectacular Valles Calchaquíes. Indulge in excellent coffee and a lot of fresh facturas (Argentine pastries). Otherwise they offer a typical continental breakfast with fruit salad as a starter.
Where to practice yoga: Anywhere in the garden. Under the giant animal structure if you’re seeking shade (they even have outdoor charging points if your music / phone needs a top-up). If not, on the grassy patch overlooking the mountains.
Unique WP factor: Besides the extensive gardens, the views, the outdoor pool (yes, being an ACA Hosteria, this is excellent value), it’s all about the road to get here. The Cuesta del Obispo is one of the most stunning drives in the world. The pretty white village of Cachi is a big draw too.
