Beds: Cosy bunks in rustic wood cabins. Berths come bed linen-free so take your own, including a cosy duvet in all seasons except perhaps Summer. Even if the central log burner is on, and the living space nice and toasty, you might feel cooler when you retreat to the bedrooms. The cabins are fully fitted with hot, powerful showers in the bathrooms.
Breakfast: Anything you fancy and the cabin has a bijou, yet fully-functioning kitchen. This is Canadian-style glamping so the catering is your domain. There’s a wonderful Whole Foods-style supermarket nearby which stocks any fresh fruit and vegetable you desire, with a walk-in fridge and every cheese under the sun. French folk will love it. Later on, after dinner, you can toast marshmallows on your very own campfire just in front of your cabin. Logs are provided.
Where to practice yoga: That depends on the time you visit. In any season but the snowy ones, the outdoor decking of your cabin is the perfect yoga-mat width. Failing that, anywhere on a grassy patch around the cabin. Or better still, take your mat, or just yourself down to the river, perch on a rock and meditate to the sound of running water. It’s bliss. During winter, keep cosy in your wood cabin with a backdrop of bright white snow outside. There, deep within the forest, as close to nature as can be, you’ll find your inner calm.
Unique WP factor: The cosiness, the location and your proximity to nature. Well, you could also pitch a tent but we preferred to play house. It’s like the world as we know it switches off for a while. Coming back into a town or city is a momentary culture shock. Turn off your phone and embrace it.
